Notre Dame Celebates 4th Annual Eucharistic Procession

On Sunday, April 20, students, faculy and staff of the University of Notre Dame gathered at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart for the fourth annual campus-wide Eucharistic Procession.  The Procession was led by the Reverend David T. Tyson, Provincial Superior, Indiana Province of the Congregation of Holy Cross.

Turn out was high, and even some passersby were moved to participate.  The Procession moved from station to station around the campus in a solemn reverence.

A student coordinator of the event, Jon Buttaci, commented, “I’m participating in planning for the procession because it is important that such an eminent Catholic university have traditional devotions which celebrate the rich heritage we have as Catholics."

The Eucharistic Procession was revived at the University of Notre Dame in 2005.  In years past it was held on the Feast of Corpus Christi.
