Saint Leo University Spends Evening with Thomas Merton

(10/8/08)  Students watched a film on the life and works of the mystic Trappist monk.

Last week students and staff from Saint Leo University in Florida assembled for a film and discussion on the life and works of the twentieth century mystic, Trappist monk Thomas Merton.  The film, released in 2006, was entitled Soul Searching: The Journey of Thomas Merton.  “It is a poetic, dramatic, and sometimes haunting telling of Merton’s life through his own writings and the words of those who knew him best, whether personally or simply through his writings.”  The event was organized and led by Saint Leo religion professor Dr. Robert Imperato, who has authored a book on Merton.
