Christendom College President Dr. Timothy O’Donnell will host a new series on EWTN entitled “The Catholic Epistles: The Voice of Christ in the Voice of the Apostles.”
Why focus on the epistles?
"The epistles tend to be neglected," Dr. O'Donnell told The Cardinal Newman Society. "But there's a wealth of doctrine to be found there."
Dr. O'Donnell pointed out that the epistles weren't sent to a particular church but were addressed to the universal Church. They highlight extraordinarily well how the faith is really grounded in the faith of the apostles and highlight the continuity of the gospels and the apostolic tradition.
Dr. O' Donnell pointed out that the epistles also have special significance today as they were written at a time when Christianity was a minority and paganism ruled the day. Sound familiar? The analogy to today can be frightening.
"The secular world is a dominant force right now. But the great consolation is that history is made by a committed minority. In a very real way this is a great moment for us," said Dr. O'Donnell. "We as a Church just have to get our act together. How is the world going to hear the truth unless the messenger is actually sent out?"
"There's intrinsic power in the truth, and when it's proposed with clarity it resonates with people," he said. "EWTN is a great apostolate to spread the truth of the apostles."
The series will air Sundays beginning March 4 at 5:30 p.m.
“The Catholic Epistles” is a 13-part series that examines the place of the Catholic Epistles in the New Testament Canon and their witness to the apostolic teaching. The series was filmed at Christendom College in the St. John the Evangelist Library.
O'Donnell has hosted numerous shows on EWTN including The Glory of the Papacy

. He was the first layman to receive both his licentiate and doctoral degrees in Ascetical and Mystical Theology from the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas (Angelicum) in Rome.
