The Cardinal Newman Society previously reported on the Marquette University Gender and Sexuality Resource Center’s sponsorship of UC Berkeley’s FemSex 12-week workshop. The Marquette Warrior blog is reporting that after reviewing the content of the workshop, Marquette University is pulling its support for the program.
“We found that aspects of the program did not fulfill the expectations set out in the charter of the Gender and Sexuality Resource Center,” wrote provost John Pauly in a letter to Marquette College Republican president Ethan Hollenberger. “Because of this, the center is no longer sponsoring the program.”
The workshop, which was previously listed on the Gender and Sexuality Resource Center's calendar, has been removed.
The Marquette Warrior reports that the decision was arrived at following inquiries made by Ethan Hollenberger, who wrote to several administration officials with several questions about the workshop. The letter reportedly noted, however, that the workshop was student programming, taking place outside of the classroom.
The Cardinal Newman Society is waiting for official word from Marquette University about its non-sponsorship of the workshop, and whether the workshop will be continuing as a student program on- or off-campus.
