As the Church readies for the resignation of Pope Benedict XVI, and a conclave to elect his successor, the Washington Business Journal is reporting that the media is increasingly turning to The Catholic University of America (CUA) for experts to talk about the Church and the upcoming papal election.
"It's been a madhouse," said Victor Nakas, spokesman for CUA.
"The last time we had such a flurry of activity was when the pope visited our campus in 2008," Nakas said. "These kinds of occurrences definitely raise our profile, most specifically among students who are considering coming to Catholic University."
According to the Journal, five full-time people have been fielding dozens of media requests coming to the university.
The Catholic University of America, which is recommended in The Newman Guide, is the only pontifical university in the U.S., and the only school in the country that has a School of Canon Law.
