Cincinnati.com has reported that Sister Marguerite Kloos has resigned as dean of the College of Mount St. Joseph’s art and humanities department, after being charged with voting fraud. Sister Kloos, 54, told investigators that she filled out an absentee ballot for Sister Marie Hewitt, another nun who died a month before November’s election.
According to Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters, Kloos agreed to plead guilty. Illegal voting can carry up to an 18-month prison sentence.
An earlier story reported that Sister Rose Marie Hewitt, 78, had died Oct. 4, before absentee ballots had been mailed to voters. A completed ballot was returned in Hewitt’s name.
