Archbishop Lori to Address Mount St. Mary's University Graduates

Mount St. Mary's University in Emmitsburg, Maryland, recently announced that Baltimore Archbishop William Lori will deliver the University's 205th commencement address on May 12.

Archbishop Lori earned his master's degree from Mount St. Mary's Seminary in 1977.  He also holds a doctorate in sacred theology from The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C.

"Archbishop Lori's dedication to maintaining faithful Catholic universities, enhancing Catholic identity, and defending and preserving religious liberty is evident on our campus and in his service to the church," said Thomas Powell, President of Mount St. Mary's. "We look forward to welcoming him back to the Mount."

Archbishop Lori was installed as Archbishop of Baltimore in April 2012.  He has been leading the efforts of the U.S. bishops on religious freedom issues while serving as the chairman of the bishops' Ad Hoc Committee on Religious Liberty.  His past leadership roles include serving as chairman of the USCCB Committee on Doctrine and as chairman of the USCCB Ad Hoc Committee on Universities and Colleges.

Mount St. Mary's University is recommended at TheNewmanGuide.com for its strong Catholic identity.
