The Cardinal Newman Society and DeMontfort Music have partnered to offer five free copies of the worldwide hit album of Catholic sacred music, Angels and Saints at Ephesus.
The album, a stunningly beautiful recording of the contemplative Benedictine Sisters of Mary, Queen of the Apostles, near Kansas City, Missouri, has topped Billboard’s Classical Traditional Music Chart for three weeks — leading even such popular albums as Fifty Shades of Grey: The Classical Album and Downton Abbey: The Essential Collection. The Sisters receive a portion of the album’s proceeds when purchased at their website.
The Sisters’ prior album, Advent at Ephesus, was released last year and topped Billboard’s chart for six weeks.
Both albums were produced by DeMontfort Music, a company launched by Catholics Kevin and Monica Fitzgibbons to encourage broad appreciation for sacred music and chant. Both DeMontfort and The Cardinal Newman Society are co-sponsors of Sacra Liturgia, a Rome conference on the sacred liturgy to be held June 25-28.
Encouraged by the reverent music and liturgy at many of the colleges featured in The Newman Guide to Choosing a Catholic College, DeMontfort Music has donated five free compact discs of the album Angels and Saints at Ephesus to be awarded to students and alumni of Newman Guide colleges.
Applicants should write between 200-300 words explaining how sacred music and liturgy has been integral to their Catholic education. Send these comments, affirmation of attendance at a Newman Guide college (including name of college and year of actual/pending graduation), mailing address and phone number to firstname.lastname@example.org by Friday, June 14.
The Cardinal Newman Society will select five winners of the CDs and will publish the winning entries at its Catholic Education Daily website.
All submissions must include only original content, or the author must clearly cite the sources of any quoted material. By participating in the contest, each entrant irrevocably grants to The Cardinal Newman Society a non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable license and right to reprint, display, reproduce, use and exhibit the submission in whole or in part, with attribution to the author.
In addition, stay tuned to Catholic Education Daily throughout the week. Tomorrow, we'll feature an exclusive interview with producers Kevin and Monica Fitzgibbons. On Wednesday and Thursday, we'll feature rare, exclusive interviews with two Sisters from the Benedictine Sisters of Mary, Queen of the Apostles.
