An Ohio County Commissioner was disinvited as the commencement speaker at Bishop Ready High School in Columbus because of his advocacy for same-sex marriage.
Franklin County Commissioner and alumnus John O'Grady had originally been selected as commencement speaker for the graduation, which took place last week, reported the Columbus Dispatch.
But O'Grady is also co-chairman of the Freedom to Marry initiative, which advocates same-sex marriage in Ohio. The decision to rescind the invitation was reportedly made by Columbus Bishop Frederick Campbell, who issued no public comment.
