The Faculty Senate at Loyola Marymount University is hosting an open forum for faculty and staff concerning the University’s decision to drop abortion coverage in its health plan, according to an email obtained by The Cardinal Newman Society.
Last month, LMU announced that it dropped its employee insurance coverage of abortion citing its Catholic mission, but retained its coverage of contraceptives, following protests from a faithful Catholic professor and just prior to publication of a Newman Society report revealing LMU’s benefits plan.
The open forum is scheduled for Friday, September 13.
The email states, “The purpose of this forum is to answer questions about the recent changes to our health benefits, to listen to concerns that faculty and staff would like to express, and to gather suggestions for how we can work to bring our community together once the Board of Trustees has made its decision.”
