Mount St. Mary’s University will be hosting the 25th Annual Special Olympics’ Fall Sports Festival this weekend, according to the University.
The university partners with the Special Olympics of Maryland and more than 200 Mount student volunteers to make the all-day event possible.
“…This partnership has given Mount students a great opportunity to take part-in and witness first-hand this positive community event,” said Jeff Abel, Mount St. Mary’s director of the Office of Social Justice. “The Festival is based on what an athlete can achieve with positive support and community backing. All of these events are inspirational competitions to watch.”
Attendees can watch the hundreds of athletes compete in various sports including tennis, flag football, and power lifting. These athletic challenges serve as a celebration of the dignity of every human person as an innate gift from God.
Mount St. Mary’s is recommended in The Newman Guide for its strong Catholic identity.
