Catholic School Students Rally for Life Tomorrow, Friday

On the feast of St. Nicholas, Catholic schools across the country will witness to the greatest gift—life—by peacefully praying outside of abortion clinics, according to LifeSiteNews.com.

On December 6, St. John’s Catholic High School in Beloit, Kan., will travel nearly three hours to the closest abortion clinics in Wichita, Kan., and Lincoln, Neb.  The students in the senior class made a YouTube video to invite other students from across the country to join them spiritually by praying at their local abortion clinic on that date.

One of the schools participating in the “Catholic School Life Rally” is St. Joseph’s Catholic School in Greenville, SC, which is one of the 2012 Top 50 Catholic High School Honor Roll Schools, as named by The Cardinal Newman Society.

Director of programs at The Cardinal Newman Society, Bob Laird, who oversees the organization’s National Catholic High School Honor Roll, praised the initiative:

After overseeing Project Rachel (the post-abortion healing ministry) of the Arlington Diocese as the family life director for several years, it is very clear to me that young students peacefully praying to stop abortion at the source of the evil, present a profound witness to both the women entering the facility and to the staff at the facility itself. Excellent Catholic high schools make it a priority to carry out this important work of charity.

Katie Greenwood, St. John’s Catholic High School senior, is passionate about ending abortion. She told LiveAction News:

My class knows the horrors of abortion, and we want other people to join in our fight. How can our country ignore the plight of the unborn if the next generation is screaming for the public to recognize this ongoing genocide?  Honestly, how can you ignore thousands of teenagers, begging for the life of the innocent to be spared?

In a letter to St. John’s, Cardinal Timothy Dolan encouraged them to keep up the good work in giving witness to the unborn while praying at various abortion clinics, according to the Rally’s Facebook page.
