Georgetown MLK Celebration to Feature Pro-Abortion Rights Eleanor Holmes Norton

Georgetown University is honoring the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. this week in part by featuring pro-abortion rights Delegate to the U.S. House of Representatives and tenured Georgetown law professor Eleanor Holmes Norton, according to The Hoya.

The student newspaper said Del. Norton will take part in a panel discussion focused on Martin Luther King’s March on Washington.

Del. Norton, in the past, has been endorsed by the radical EMILY's List for “pro-choice” women and voted to require pharmacies to fulfill contraceptive prescriptions, according to On The Issues.

In fact, just last week, Del. Norton accused pro-life Republicans of waging a “new war on women” for seeking to ban Washington, D.C., from spending taxpayer funds on abortion.

Georgetown’s Director of the Office of Institutional Diversity, Equity and Affirmative Action Michael Smith related the events of the week to Georgetown’s Jesuit identity:

It speaks to our sense of Ignatian and Jesuit values, a sense of community, a sense of men and women for others and diversity.  Dr. King, as an American iconic figure, his life and legacy speaks to the intersection of what we do as a Catholic and Jesuit institution in terms of the sense of social justice and raising voice to the injustices in many different areas of life.
