The former mayor of Milwaukee, who once compared some pro-lifers to “cult” members, spoke at Marquette University last week to promote his new book, according to the Jesuit university’s website.
In the early ‘90s, pro-abortion rights Mayor John Norquist urged U.S. Attorney General Janet Reno to launch a federal investigation into pro-life activity and said that “there is a cult-like flavor to the most extreme elements of the movement.”
“During the last 12 years, the United States Attorneys general have ignored… concerted efforts to deny civil rights to women in ou rcommunity,” he reportedly wrote. “They have ignored the organization and promotion of rioting in our community; they have ignored conspiracy to shut down law-abiding businesses in our community.”
In that letter, he asked Reno to review state and federal policies concerning pro-lifers.
At his appearance at Marquette, Norquist reportedly discussed about the importance of urban highway removal and walkable neighborhoods.
