CBS News recently featured a heartwarming story about the volunteer work of a Math teacher at St. Francis High School in La Canada, California.
Jim O'Connor is a straight-laced, no-nonsense kind of teacher. "It drives me crazy when people say school should be fun," reportedly said the Vietnam veteran. "I mean, it's nice if it could be, but you can't make school fun."
Students at the Catholic school thought they knew O’Connor but they realized they didn’t know him at all when a student went to the hospital to discuss an upcoming blood drive and learned a lot about his teacher.
