Free Online Courses on Dante’s Divine Comedy Offered by Holy Apostles College

Holy Apostles College and Seminary in Cromwell, Conn., is offering a number of free, online courses this summer to those in high school and above.  The courses help to advance the College’s “mission to cultivate Catholic leaders for the purpose of evangelization,” according to correspondence with Holy Apostles.

The courses offered include a three-part series of courses on Dante’s Divine Comedy as well as “John Paul II's Social Magisterium” and “Teaching Research Design”.

Taught by Dr. Sebastian Mahfood, students will study Dante’s Inferno from May 5 to June 7, the Purgatorio from June 9 to July 11, and the Paradiso from July 14 to August 15.

The most exciting thing about these courses, according to Dr. Mahfood, is for students to be able to study Dante’s work on the 700th anniversary of the publication of the Inferno, completed in 1314.

The courses on the Divine Comedy take about 10 minutes per day and require some discussion board interaction as well.  More information is available here.

Holy Apostles College and Seminary is recommended in The Newman Guide for its strong Catholic identity.
