Georgetown Law professor John Podesta led the delegation for the Obama administration to the Vatican for the Mass of canonization of Popes John XXIII and John Paul II this weekend, according to the Boston Globe.
Podesta is the former president of the pro-abortion Center for American Progress as well as the chair of the advisory board of the American Foundation for Equal Rights, which helped launch the case of Perry v. Schwarzenegger, which overturned Proposition 8.
Podesta led the delegation that included pro-abortion rights Rep. Xavier Becerra, chairman of the House Democratic Caucus, and Katie Beirne Fallon, Assistant to the President and Director of Legislative Affairs.
From 1998 to 2001, Podesta served President Bill Clinton as White House Chief of Staff. He now serves as a special advisor to President Obama.
Podesta, according to the Georgetown’s website, has taught at the Law Center since 2001.
