Georgetown’s Women in Leadership Summit Honored Abortion Rights Supporter

Dee Dee Myers, former press secretary for President Bill Clinton, was recently honored at Georgetown’s inaugural Women in Leadership Summit, which was hosted by University President John Degioia and Vice President of Ministry Fr. Kevin O'Brien S.J., among others.

Myers, according to the Jesuit University’s website, received the inaugural “Own It” award.

“The award goes to a woman who exemplifies a successful 21st-century female leader willing to ‘own’ all of the responsibilities that come with her position, and who is the first woman to serve in the post,” a student co-chair of the event reportedly said.

After working for pro-abortion rights President Clinton, Myers served on the board of NARAL’s San Francisco Power of Choice Luncheon just last month.

In a piece that appeared in the Huffington Post last year, Myers wrote, “We have to continue our unyielding support for Planned Parenthood” and criticized laws restricting abortion as an “unprecedented assault on women's health.”

The Georgetown summit also featured Maria Shriver as moderator. Shriver once reportedly boasted about being a “cafeteria Catholic” and considers herself "a Catholic in good standing." Yet she reportedly said in an interview, “I find I don’t spend a lot of time trying to square my own daily life with the institutional Church … I pick and choose."

“I often talk to my daughters at the dinner table about the difference between being pro-abortion and being pro-choice,” Shriver reportedly said.
