31-Foot Tall Sculpture of Annunciation Constructed for Ave Maria Oratory

Naples Daily News reports that a 31-foot tall marble sculpture of the Annunciation has been created for the facade of Ave Maria University's oratory. The report says that the sculpture by Marton Varo took nearly 3 years from "inception to fruition" and more than 3 million dollars to achieve. The article reports that the relief is the first project of the Ave maria Foundation for the arts completely funded by private donations. Naples Daily News reported that the marble for the project came from the same quarry Michalangelo used for his most important works.  Read more about the sculpture of the Annunciation here. Ave Maria University is one of the institutions featured in The Newman Guide to Choosing a Catholic College for its strong Catholic identity.  Read Ave's profile here.
