Wyoming Catholic College (WCC) recently announced the launch of its “Liberty Lecture Series” taking place in public libraries in four different Wyoming cities this summer.
The series, which is free and open to the public, “will focus on fundamental principles of our American Government and current trends in political thought.”
WCC President Kevin Roberts, theology professor Kyle Washut, and associate professor of humanities Virginia Arbery will deliver the lectures. The College reports:
“We have some outstanding professors and thinkers here at Wyoming Catholic College,” said Kevin Roberts, the Lander-based college's President. “And we're eager to share them with the people of this great state.” Jon Tonkowich, Vice President of External Affairs, added that “Wyoming Catholic College is positioned to provide relevant and scholarly commentary on our state and national government. We see these lectures as the College's first steps into the public square, doing our part to help Wyoming continue to be the best state in the union.”
In June, the lecturer will be Wyoming native, Kyle Washut whose lecture is titled “Freedom from the Ground Up: Cultivating the Character of the Republics Citizens.” Mr. Washut will speak in Casper on June 16th, Cheyenne June 18th, Jackson June 19th, and Lander June 26th. In July, the lecturer will be President of Wyoming Catholic College and American historian, Kevin Roberts, whose lecture is titled, “State’s Rights and the Future of Federal Tyranny.” Dr. Roberts will speak in Lander July 10th, Cheyenne July 15th, Casper July 16th, and Jackson July 17th. And in August, the lecturer will be renowned political philosopher, Virginia Arbery, whose lecture is titled, “Constitutional Morality vs. Class Warfare: The Right Rhetoric for a Republic.” Dr. Arbery will speak in Jackson August 12th, Casper August 13th, and Cheyenne August 14th. The Lander date is still to be determined.
Cheyenne lectures will be held at 7:00pm in the Cottonwood Room of the Laramie County Library. Casper lectures will be held at 7:00pm in the Crawford Room of the Natrona County Library. Jackson lectures will be held at 6:00pm in the Auditorium of the Teton County Library. Lander lectures will be held at 7:00pm in the Carnegie Room of the Fremont County Library.
