Franciscan University of Steubenville is celebrating 39 years of summer conferences by continuing the tradition and holding more than thirty conferences for both adults and youth this summer.
Conferences for adults, such as the St. John Bosco Conference for Religious Educators, the Applied Biblical Studies Conferences, and the Defending the Faith Conferences are dedicated to educating the faithful while maintaining complete faithfulness to the Magisterium. Keynote speakers include Franciscan University professor Dr. Scott Hahn and Patrick Madrid, the president of Catholic Apologetics Academy.
Franciscan expects about 45,000 young people to attend the twenty youth conferences that are scheduled this summer in eleven states and two Canadian provinces. The University added two new conferences to its schedule this year, both of which are already sold out.
Attendees affirm the passionately Catholic nature of these conferences. According to the Steubenville Conferences website, Carlos and Luisa of Buenos Aires, Argentina, said that: "The Applied Biblical Studies Conference was a place where God is loved and taught, that promotes Catholic doctrine and love for God... in a wonderful way that opens the mind and opens the heart also."
A priest from the Diocese of Youngstown spoke of the spiritual impact these conferences have on those who attend. He said, "The highlight for me was hearing confessions. I heard three hours of confessions, and you could really feel the Holy Spirit there. That was a great grace for me."
Franciscan University of Steubenville is recommended in The Newman Guide for its strong Catholic identity.
