Walsh University recently announced that it was honored for the fourth year in a row by Colleges of Distinction. This year’s list also included Mount St. Mary’s University and the University of Dallas. All three institutions are recommended in The Newman Guide for their strong Catholic identity.
Colleges of Distinction is a college search e-guide that includes resources for students, parents, and counselors, as well as profiles of the honored schools. The recognized colleges have four areas of distinction: “engaged students,” “great teaching,” “a vibrant campus community,” and “successful outcomes.”
The profile pages for Walsh University, Mount St. Mary’s University, and University of Dallas all note the Catholic identity of these institutions.
The e-guide says, “Walsh University encourages individuals to act in accordance with reason guided by the example and teachings of Jesus Christ.” It continues, “[the academic opportunities at the Mount] encourage students to discover the qualities about themselves and about the world that will allow them to lead fulfilling lives.” And finally of Dallas, “the university pursues truth, virtue, and wisdom in the liberal arts and professional studies.”
According to the Colleges of Distinction website, honored colleges possess a national recognition for excellence, an undergraduate focus,a variety of “innovative” learning experiences, an active campus life that fosters personal development, and a reputation for post-graduate preparation among graduate schools and employers.
