On July 20, Thomas Aquinas College in Santa Paula, Calif., received 136 high school students on campus for the Great Books High School Summer Program, reports the College.
Students hail from across the United States as well as Italy, Argentina, Canada, the United Kingdom, Singapore, and Mexico for two weeks of “faith, fun, and friendship,” according to the College. During the program the participants are reading, studying, and discussing the “great books,” some of the most influential works of Western civilization. Additionally, they are attending Mass and participating in activities such as the “Welcome BBQ,” residence hall parties, volleyball, hiking, prayer, and bonfires.
The program is an opportunity to “forge new friendships” and “pursue the truth,” according to the College.
