Three colleges recommended in The Newman Guide for their strong Catholic identity are featured in this year’s “The Best 379 Colleges,” an annual college-search guide published by The Princeton Review. The Catholic University of America (CUA) in Washington, D.C., Thomas Aquinas College (TAC) in Santa Paula, Calif., and University of Dallas in Irving, Tex., were ranked among the top 16 percent of four year colleges in the United States.
CUA, TAC, and Dallas were also listed as best regional colleges. TAC received placement in the “Best Value Colleges” category and made the “Financial Aid Honor Roll” and Dallas was ranked high in the “Most Popular Study Abroad Program” category.
Academic excellence is the primary criterion for the Best 379 Colleges list, according to the Princeton Review website. The organization also speaks with college administrators, counselors, and advisors in addition to receiving feedback from students, parents, and educators. The list aims to represent a variety of colleges—including public and private, small and large, and religious and secular—from across the country. The Princeton Review also lists the top 20 colleges in 62 different categories based on student surveys.
