More than one thousand Catholics have joined a Lenten Prayer Campaign for the Renewal of Catholic Colleges over the past few weeks, The Cardinal Newman Society (CNS) announced today. The website
AdorationU.com hosts a form for individuals to join the prayer campaign and watch the new CNS video promoting Eucharistic Adoration to college students.
“Just as The Cardinal Newman Society and its more than 100,000 members oppose the abuse of Catholic identity on Catholic campuses, so also we encourage the faithful to storm Heaven with prayer for Catholic campuses,” said Patrick J. Reilly, President of The Cardinal Newman Society. “This Lent, we pray that many Catholic colleges will heed the Lord’s call to ‘return to me with your whole heart.’”
In the weeks since CNS launched the Lenten Prayer Campaign for the Renewal of Catholic Colleges on March 24, 1,072 Catholics have each visited
AdorationU.com and pledged to offer a holy hour for Catholic higher education.
CNS encourages those joining the prayer campaign to name the particular college they are praying for. Some of the colleges that have received the most pledged holy hours include: Boston College, College of the Holy Cross, Creighton University, DePaul University, Fordham University, Georgetown University, Gonzaga University, Loyola Marymount University, Marquette University, Seattle University, University of Notre Dame, and Xavier University (OH).
The prayer campaign was launched by The Cardinal Newman Society in conjunction with the release of a new video promoting Adoration to college students. Titled “Adoration U,” the video gives viewers a glimpse into the problems college students struggle with and presents Eucharistic Adoration as the means by which students can renew their lives. In the few weeks since its release, the video has received more than 41,000 views on both YouTube and Vimeo.
CNS continues to invite individuals to join the Lenten Prayer Campaign for Catholic Colleges and watch the video at
AdorationU.com.
