Mount St. Mary's University to Celebrate Bicentennial
14-Month Celebration to Kick-Off on August 22nd
Mount Saint Mary's University, Emmitsburg, Maryland, is poised to launch its bicentennial celebration. Opening ceremonies, including a convocation and Mass, will be held on August 22-24. The university also will dedicate a statue of its founder, Archbishop John Dubois, in the center of campus.
The 14-month celebration will include a number of special events, including a symposium, concert, various dinners and a Bishops' Mass on November 11.
The Mount, which was founded in 1808, is the second oldest U.S. Catholic college. Its seminary, Mount Saint Mary's Seminary, has produced 48 Catholic bishops. More information on bicennential events is located at www.msmary.edu.
