From July 29 through October 19, 2008 The Catholic University of America is commemorating Pope Benedict XVI’s historic April 17 visit to the Washington, DC campus with a Papal Exhibit.
Most noteworthy among the items on display are a papal zuchetto and a reproduction of the biblical Letters of St. Peter. Also displayed is the chair Pope Benedict XVI used during his visit to CUA when he delivered his landmark Address to Catholic Educators.
Upon his arrival last April, the Holy Father gave his zucchetto, the traditional white scull cap worn by the Pope, to Very Rev. David O’Connell, C.M., President of The Catholic University of America.
According to the CUA Office for Public Affairs, the biblical reproduction is a “third-century papyrus copy of the First Letter of St. Peter.” Other items included in the exhibit are “a rosary blessed by the Pope and papal cards with the Pope's signature.”
The Papal Exhibit will be on display at various locations around campus until October.
