At the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass today, this feast of St. Thomas Aquinas, Bishop David R. Choby bestowed the mandatum upon six professors of Theology at Aquinas College (TN). Sister Catherine Joseph, O.P., Sister Mary Michael, O.P., Sister Elinor, O.P, David Dault, Joan Watson, and David Winsinger all recited the Oath of Fidelity and made the Profession of Faith. Other Catholic colleges are also marking today’s feast:

1. The University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN, is observing the feast of the patron of education, and its namesake, St. Thomas Aquinas. Campus Ministry at UST is inviting the entire university to “honor the university’s patron” at the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.

2. At Aquinas College in Grand Rapids, MI, students, faculty and staff are celebrating St. Thomas for an entire week. Mass, academic, athletic, social events and other special times of prayer are available through February 1.

3. Thomas Aquinas College (TAC) has the “St. Thomas Day Lecture” today.

4. The Catholic University of America (CUA) celebrated the Feast of St. Thomas Aquinas with a university Mass in the Crypt Church of the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. Faculty members participated in the Mass in academic regalia.  CUA commemorated St. Thomas with members of the Dominican House of Studies, also in Washington, D.C.

5. University of St Thomas (TX) will hold a Mass in honor of St Thomas Aquinas followed by a reception. They are also holding a special annual lecture in honor of their patron.
