John Paul the Great Catholic University has announced the initiation of another graduate degree offering. The university will begin accepting students into the Master of Arts in Biblical Theology program in the fall 2009 semester. The JP Catholic website reads:
“Students will be firmly rooted in the magisterial teaching of the Catholic Church as well as the philosophy and theology of St. Thomas Aquinas for whom the study of theology was synonymous with the study of Scripture (the 'sacred page'). In addition, students will be trained to effectively communicate what they have learned to others, focusing not only on academic research but also on ways to apply what they have learned in their own lives and thus be well formed for the task of evangelization, as well as further work in biblical and theological scholarship.”
JP Catholic states that their Biblical Theology program will be unique among other graduate schools of Theology. The curriculum will focus on a biblical approach to Theology based on the example set by Pope Benedict XVI. Moreover, graduate students will be given opportunities to apply what they learn through interaction with undergraduate students studying media and business at JP Catholic. Source: JP Catholic
