On April 6 members of the Knights of Columbus council 9251 at Sacred Heart University will march from Fairfield, CT, to New Haven, CT, bearing an 8-foot tall by 4-foot wide wooden cross. Sacred Heart Sophomore and Deputy Grand Knight Sam Dowd said, “We are using it as a way to show our love for Jesus and his sacrifice for us. We want to make a sacrifice this Lent that we know will mean something.” Those carrying the cross are "brave enough to admit that they are Catholics and to live their faith openly, and strong enough to serve as role models and a source of inspiration for others,” said education professor Edward Hendricks.
