(2/18/09) Event was venue for Indiana premiere of "Brokeback Mountain"
The University of Notre Dame gradually restricted activities of the annual “Notre Dame Queer Film Festival” leading to no plans for it in 2009, according to alumnus Tom O’Neil in The Observer. Launched in 2004 by student groups and academic departments at the university, the Notre Dame Queer Film Festival was the venue for the Indiana premiere of “Brokeback Mountain,” as well as numerous other films in the “queer” genre. O’Neil alleges that because of successive restrictions placed upon the festival by Notre Dame, producing the event on campus eventually became impossible. O’Neil is a member of the Gay and Lesbian Alumni Association of Notre Dame/Saint Mary's College who helped launch the film festival. Source: The Observer
