(2/23/09) Attendees learn "traditional Catholic curriculum and its critical importance..."
The University of St. Francis in Fort Wayne, IN, will host an academic retreat from July 12 to 17, 2009 entitled, “Truth and Joy in the Catholic School.” Secondary educators will study topics ranging from the history of education, the trivium and quadrivium, natural sciences, history, literature, to philosophy and theology. Attendees will learn about “traditional Catholic curriculum and its crititcal importance in forming Catholic students of character and intellectual virtue.” Said Andrew Steely, President of the Institute for Catholic Liberal Education, “As a result of discussions and reflections on what we are reading and learning, participants form genuine friendships. They walk away from our retreats invigorated, encouraged and refreshed.” The “Institute is dedicated to fostering Catholic liberal education, often referred to as classical education, through research, education, academic retreats, presentations, and consultation.” Source: Catholic PRWire
