(2/23/09) New students may study and live in 18-person learning communities.
The Catholic University of America Provost James Brennan is seeking to establish a “First Year Experience” program for freshmen at the university. The new curriculum would require first-year students to take three new courses, studying and living within 18-person learning communities. Students will share dormitories, classes and advisers during their first year. Students will take a humanities course focusing on works such as the Iliad, the Odyssey and the Bible. Students “really need a kind of structured [program] to help them navigate the complexities of a university,” said Brennan. Source: Inside Higher Ed
