(3/4/09) An "enduring symbol of our gratitude for our Blessed Mother’s special intercession"
Benedictine College in Atchison, KS, is constructing a large Marian shrine on campus this semester which the administration hopes will be completed by graduation in May. Groundwork on the Grotto continued after holy water from Lourdes was mixed into the foundation’s concrete and a Rosary blessed by Pope Benedict was placed in the center and buried. The Rosary contained a Medal of St. Benedict which was blessed with the traditional exorcism prayer. “This Grotto will be a visible, enduring symbol of our gratitude for our Blessed Mother’s special intercession and protection throughout the years,” said Benedictine College President Stephen Minnis. “Everyone passes by this spot throughout the day, so even if someone doesn’t stop to see Mary, Mary will see them.” Source: Benedictine College
