(3/19/09) Contraceptives for "all sexually active teens - and, increasingly, preteens."
On Friday, March 20, 2009, Georgian Court College, a Catholic institution, is holding the Women’s Leadership Conference featuring keynote speaker Marian Wright Edelman, an advocate for making contraceptive services available to minors at schools, whose organization (Children’s Defense Fund) is frequently associated with some of the most pro-abortion forces in the United States of America. In her book Families in Peril, Edelman promotes “comprehensive adolescent health services – both in and out of school settings” which includes contraceptives for “all sexually active teens – and, increasingly, preteens.” She goes on to deplore the fact that “we refuse to give our teens the capacity to delay parenthood, while unsuccessfully imploring too many of them, too late, to delay sexual activity.” Edelman also argues that “withholding sex education and family planning has not led to less teenage sexual activity in the United States. Conversely, the provision of this information and service in Europe and Canada has resulted not in increased sexual activity but in heightened sexual responsibility.” Source: Georgian Court College
