Briar Cliff University Hosts Speaker Who Survived Abortion Attempt

(6/30/09)  She "stressed that abortion is not the only option for unwanted pregnancies, although most women believe it is."

Last semester, Briar Cliff University in Sioux City, Iowa, hosted pro-life speaker Melissa Ohden for a talk on campus. She told students about how when she was still unborn her mother decided to have an abortion. Ohden related her story about how she survived the saline-infusion abortion attempt and went on to have a happy and healthy life. During the talk, she pointed out that college-aged women are the most likely demographic to have abortions, accounting for roughly one third of all abortions. Cliff News reports, “Ohden stressed that abortion is not the only option for unwanted pregnancies, although most women believe it is. She blamed ‘popular media,’ a lack of information and the thought that ‘having a child would interfere with studies or their career.’ Ohden remains a strong advocate of adoption for women in that position. “ Source: Campus Notes
