(10/7/09) "Faith and Reason in the Modern Catholic University" part of Catholic Intellectual Tradition series
The University of St. Thomas (UST) in Houston, Tex., hosted Daniel Cardinal DiNardo, Archbishop of the Galveston - Houston Archdiocese, for an evening lecture on October 1, 2009. The Cardinal’s talk, entitled “Faith and Reason in the Modern Catholic University”, examined “Pope John Paul II’s exhortation to the guardians of both faith and reason to provide appropriate sustenance for human beings.” Cardinal DiNardo also spoke on “the role of the Catholic university in promoting and sustaining the proper relationship between faith and reason.” The lecture was part of UST’s Catholic Intellectual Tradition Lecture Series which brings world-renowned scholars to the Houston campus to “explore the many ways in which people of faith shed light upon the meaning of human existence.” The University of St. Thomas is featured in The Newman Guide to Choosing a Catholic College, a free online resource, for its strong Catholic identity.
